I am full, sleepy and extremely knackered.
Today was the first completely full day that I’ve done at uni. Usually we have a morning lecture and that’s it but this one was big giant, massive lecture with only an hour break in the middle. I nearly died. Our lecture starts at 10.30am and finishes at 4 and then I have Photoshop class from 4 until 6pm. I don’t know how I’m going to survive every Thursday from now on :<
It was the first lesson for this module as well and it was just so much information thrown at us in what seemed like a short amount of time and then, just to make things worse our lecturer decided to get us in groups and have us do a mini presentation. Great (!) He basically wants us to do presentations every week, so we grow more confident in speaking in front of people. We’re not allowed to use any Powerpoint presentations because that’s basically hiding behind a smokescreen because people usually just read off the board what is written and be done with it (which is what I do, not gonna lie). So, as a practice our lecturer made us go out and research the question, “What food do students prefer to eat when they’re in university?” We had an hour (cry). We managed to do it but our lecturer picked out parts of our presentation that didn’t seem relevant to what we were supposed to be researching, i.e. why we split it into male and female (it’s a subconcious thing, I think), etc. This module is basically teaching us why? Why did we go research this? Why did we choose this method of research? And so on. I swear, my head was banging by the end of the lesson.
We have a presentation due for next week and it’s so hectic because we also have to keep group attendance (which I am meant to be keeping) and if one person doesn’t turn up a group meeting then that person getting zero. Which makes sense because in other modules when we do presentations there’s always that one person who rocks up 10 minutes before the presentation with some scrappy bit of paper and they just read off that and they get the same mark as you even though you did all the work. So, our lecturer was like that’s not gonna happen. EVERYBODY in the group WILL do work. I’m so glad. He’s a good teacher, that’s for sure, and I swear if it was anyone else teaching the subject I probably wouldn’t died of boredom. >.<
My group’s presentation next week is on Madeline McCann. We have to come up with our own research question, a hypothesis and how and why we came up with the decisions to use the other two. Wish me luck (thumbsup)
Day 14: A silly picture of you/ you & your friends
This was taken in April ’09 on our way back from Graham Norton. I look extremely small 🙁 Click to enlarge
- How do you do when it comes to presentations?
- Are you a confident person?
I can remove spots on my face now thanks to Photoshop.
