SheaMoisture

“When you have that one coil just right. You ’bout to go out and slay some dragons.” – Tim Bunch, SheaMoisture’s CMO

3 weeks ago, I had never heard of SheaMoisture. 3 weeks later and I am completely obsessed. Having picked up some of their products at the Blogger Hangout’s LFW Beauty Bar, I can honestly say I don’t think I’ll be using any other hair care products again.

My hair is a pain. Suffering from alopecia, the remaining hair I do have has to be cared for a lot. Recently, my scalp has been suffering from dryness and flakiness, and all the hair creams I’ve used haven’t helped. I think the change in the weather isn’t helping, either.

I’ve started using their Curl Enhancing Smoothie and have already started to notice a difference. My hair is super soft and my scalp not as dry any more. It will probably take a little longer for the effects to be more noticeable, but I am very pleased with the results so far.

SheaMoisture was founded by Sofi Tucker in 1912. She made handmade shea butter, African black soap, and other natural remedies, and sold them in local villages to support her family. They have been eco-friendly and organic since 1912, which is amazing!

I recently attended their UK launch and was truly moved by their story, the ethics they instil and how family orientated they are as a brand. We had delicious canapรฉs and cocktails, as well awesome music being spun by celebrity DJ Sarah-Jane Crawford and global celebrity hair & makeup artist Julia Carta on hand to make our hair look on fleek!

Look at all the products <3 They smell SO good.

There was also a presentation from SheaMoisture’s Chief Of Marketing, Tim Bunch, followed by talks from the people behind the brand and also blogger Shannon aka UK Curly Girl speaking about her hair journey. It was wonderful to be in a room full of people who are passionate about hair.

SEE ALSO:  No, see - it doesn't work like that.

The fact that they will now be selling their products in UK means that it will be less of a hassle to search for it online – it will also be sold by Boots, which for me is a trusted provider (and you can use your Boots Advantage Card for discounts!).

I was able to take away with me:

Superfruit Complex 10-in-1 Renewal System Conditioner

This antioxidant-rich conditioner helps to perfect and renew vibrancy to dull, lackluster hair. When used in our System, it detangles while providing anti-aging benefits, color protection, hydration, nourishment, rejuvination, strength, anti-stress, managability, softness and shine. Our Superfruit Complex nourishes the scalp, while Marula Oil and Biotin combine in a moisture rich formulation to support hair’s elasticity. Hair looks vibrant and lustrous.

Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen, Grow & Restore Leave-In Conditioner

A reparative leave-in conditioner that softens and detangles hair. Nourishes, moisturizes and supports elasticity so hair resists breakage when detangling. Conditioners provide a protective layer that improves the appearance of split ends. Peppermint oil stimulates the scalp for an invigorating experience.

Coconut & Hibiscus Curl Enhancing Smoothie

SheaMoisture’s Coconut & Hibiscus Curl Enhancing Smoothie defines curls, reduces frizz and smoothes hair for a soft, silky feel. Restores moisture, creates brilliant shine and conditions hair without weighing it down for bouncy, healthy curls. – Made with natural and certified organic ingredients. – Coconut Oil hydrates and protects hair while reducing breakage. – Silk Protein smoothes hair for a soft, silky feel. – Neem Oil controls frizz while adding brilliant shine.

Each product smells absolutely amazing. My favourite, so far, is the smoothie. I would love to get the 10-in-1 shampoo as well, so that I can benefit from the full treatment.

We need more hair care products for the girls out there that don’t benefit from the products they advertise in the media. Black hair care products are often only found in hairdressers and little hair shops, but it is a huge market that needs to tapped into ASAP by the bigger stores. The fact that SheaMoisture, a well known US brand, is now here makes me explode with excitement.
