My Skincare Routine

skin1

Acne is the devil.

I remember when I was sixteen and my face looked like there were mini footballer players dotted all around it. Red spots, pus-y pimples, acnes scars – you name it, it was horrid. I’m not entirely sure what it was that cleared up my acne, but apart from the odd flare up my skin has been amazing since.

It has taken me ages to find a skin care routine that’s right for me, though, as I have combination skin; meaning I have a oily t-zone and super dry cheeks. My skin care routine might not work for everyone, but there are definitely a few products that I think everyone should invest in.

B. Pure Micellar Water

I’ve been seeing this in Superdrug (my favourite shop, if you haven’t noticed) for a while. I recently bought B. Clean Melting Gel Cleanser, which is amazing, and I thought I’d give their Micellar Water a go. I have no idea why I haven’t tried it sooner! It aims to cleanse, tone and refresh the skin and it does exactly that.

At first, I wasn’t sure about using micellar water because it is effectively microscopic oil particles suspended in water, and as my skin is already so oily, who wants to add something like that to the mix? However, my skin looks and feels a lot smoother, and I can tell it’s working because when I look at the cotton pad I use on my face, it’s dirty AF. TMI, maybe?

I use it in the mornings and evenings and I can definitely tell it’ll make a difference in the long run. 🙂

Superdrug Tea Tree Facial Wash

I swear by tea tree products. I used tea tree oil ages ago, but swapped to the facial wash because it’s less messy. I’m not really about big name brands, so I opted for Superdrug’s own brand tea tree facial wash as a starter. It smells great, and I love how it leaves my skin feeling. It’s weird, but I feel like if my skin feels cold, tingly and refreshed after using something then it’s worked how it’s supposed to.

Aveeno Skin Relief Moisturising Lotion with Shea Butter

As my skin is eczema prone, it is important for me to find something that not only tames flare ups but also isn’t too heavy on my skin. I hate looking like a grease ball. Whilst it does have shea butter, it is fragrance free. I love nice smelling lotions, but I find the ones that have fragrances always affect my eczema more. Which sucks, but that’s life.

Aveeno does have a slight oat-y smell, due to it containing finely‐milled oatmeal, oat oil and oat essence but it is barely noticeable. I mostly use it for my body, but I’ve found that as it’s not too heavy I can use just a little on my face and it goes a long way.

Pure Deep Cleansing Face Wipes

I picked these beauties up during a little trip to Poundland and they were 2 for £1. Amazing! I’ve tried plenty of different wipes before but I’ve always found they either leave my skin dry and/or feeling super itchy. These ones, however, are great and very mild on my skin.

After a long day at work, once I get home, I like to just use these to quickly clean my face before I even settle down and do anything else. I feel more refreshed once I’ve done this 🙂 They are paraben free and contain zinc, vitamin B3 and witch hazel.

I also recently tried out Skin Chemist’s professional facial treatment, and my face definitely felt a lot cleaner, smoother and looked healthier after using it. It has tamed down a lot of the dryness the weather can cause.

This is a 5 day treatment of a concentrated facial treatment designed to fight the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The active ingredients work together boosting your appearance by diminishing fine lines and wrinkles and firming the skin. The treatment penetrates the deeper dermal layers, replenishing moisture and restoring vital nourishment.

Whilst I am not in the business of even thinking about wrinkles or anything like that, this treatment has definitely helped a lot with the hydration of my skin. For me, personally, I feel like it has evened out my skin tone, as well. (My forehead is way darker than the rest of my face, which makes me look great when i get a tan ?)

They also kindly sent me two of their blemish sticks, which I’ve found have made some difference in this one particular blemish on my face. I still have yet to get conclusive results, but I will definitely let you guys know how I get on it. The Bee Venom Repair & Protect is based on real Bee Venom and Allantoin!

My skin is super important, so I’m always looking for anything that will protect it (and keep me looking fine as hell). If you have any suggestions of things I should try, give me a shout! 🙂

I could probably consider myself lucky that I don’t get much acne. I use a lot of SK-II products because my mum works for them. Their products are quite expensive though.

I usually cleanse my face in the shower, or when I wash my face. Then I use toner and some facial essence on my face. I use special cream for my eyes and then moisturise – that’s usually how I go about it. 🙂

I’ve never heard of SK-II, but that’s cool that your mum works for them.

I’ve been looking for a good eye cream, because I get serious bags under my eyes. I feel like the less you use on your face, the better 🙂

That water thingy makes me curious. Kinda wanna try it. And I love tea tree stuff. I used to use shampoo and conditioner with it. It just feels so…awesome. And Aveeno can be pretty nice. I have some hand lotion.

Me myself, really I just wash my face with soap, and put on argan milk and argan oil. I love that stuff.

You definitely should! I think it’s genius 🙂 Tea tree is amazing. I think I might invest in shampoo and conditioner, as well.

      Arian products are amazing!

Acne is the devil! I hate it so much and it’s so hard to find a good skincare routine that actually helps the face as everyone is different.

I’ve been trying out many cleansers and even bought the Clarisonic to help deep cleanse the face. I ended up finding out that my skin was too dry and that it just needed hydration so I’m opted in a small sample of the Laneige range which I absolutely love. The Micellar water product are amazing to clean the face with and they’re not drying at all! I’m currently using the one from Garnier 🙂

It definitely is the devil! I wish there was one thing that worked for everyone – would make life so much easier 😛

I might have to look into the Laneige range, because my skin gets really dry as well!

Aahhh, I hate acne so much. I had many issues with it when I was younger, and I still struggled with it in my late 20s! I’m glad you eventually found a skin care routine that works for you 🙂 I feel like my routine is missing a good moisturizer and cleansing face wipes. That’s great that the facial treatment from Skin Chemist has worked for you too! My skin is definitely getting drier with the colder weather.

I ended up seeing a dermatologist for my acne problems (well, I originally saw him about a scar, and then I brought up my acne too). I’m on a prescription cream and face wipe, which help soooo much. He recently recommended a face wash (not prescription) that is helping keep my skin smooth too. I’m glad I eventually got help on it! It was driving me crazy!

Oh my god, this weather is so cold. Because it’s so cold, it dries out my skin so bad and I get really flaky around my cheeks D: I’m glad to hear that you’ve found something and I hope it keeps on working for you!

I hate acnes!! It makes one person to have a low self-esteem. I was a victim of acne 7 years ago. I also have sebhorreic dermatitis and its irritating because it appears all of a sudden and often times it appears on days I feel like to wear make up. Right now my acne scars has subsided and my pimples are not that big though I have pores but its okay. Thanks to Aqua Mineral for their products. You should try it because their products are from The Dead Sea but it’s way too pricey.
I havent tried Tea Tree but might give it a try since I also have eczema prone skin. Thanks for blogging about your skincare routine! <3
