My lecture finished earlier than it was meant to, so instead of it finishing at 4PM, it finished at 2PM. :3
This lecture was with the strict teacher but, in actual fact he’s not that strict. He just loads a lot of work onto us. We’ve already been told we have to do 5 group presentations throughout the module which counts toward 50% of our overall grade and also, we have to write a essay evaluating when we have done each presentation, which is worth the other 50%. We have to put a lot of effort into the presentation though because it will reflect onto our essays if you don’t put the work in >.<
My lecture won’t always finish this early. Our teacher just breezed through the basics on what we had to and then bombarded us with the fact that we have a week to create a presentation. We were looking at social networking in todays lesson which was quite interesting and in our presentations we have to reflect on how the medium of Facebook determines the contruction of the modes of communication and projected social identities of its users. I think it means that we have to show how some people may be different online than they are in real life. Our teacher said had created hierarchy of how we group friends we have on Facebook. At the top is Close which includes family, partners, very close friends and then it’s Intermediate which is classmates, accquaintances, basically people you know but don’t hang with on a daily basis for them to be considered close friends and then lastly, is Remote which is genuinely ‘virtual’ friends, i.e. you guys I guess, those people met in cyberspace and not face2face. Which, now that I consider it, is true because I definitely several of each on my Facebook page. If you dig deeper into looking social networks, it’s actually quite interesting.
Did you know that South Korea is the most wired country in the nation? 3 to 5 year olds already spend up to 8hrs+ on the computer, a day (!) A more serious case is someone spending 18hrs+ on a computer. I love my laptop but I don’t think I could spend that long on it. It would cause all sorts of problems on my eyes, and considering that they are bad enough already (I’m shortsighted) I don’t want anything else to happen to them, ha. ^o^
I have quite a lot of work to do with my course because as well as this presentation, I’m sure I’ll get work from my Add+vantage (although, it IS just Photoshop, so it shouldn’t be too hard) and also my lectures on Thursday and on top of that I have to update the blog that I have to keep for this course. Too much media in my face.
Day 5: Someone you would switch lives with for a day and why?
Well, I’d like to swap lives with a celebrity. I’m not sure which one but definitely not Paris Hilton – I don’t think I could cope with the lack of brain cells :< Someone like J.K. Rowling perhaps. I would wanna know what her life is like now that she is so famous because of HP. I would like ransack her house to see where she gets all of her idea, and such. Coolness 😀
I need to go food shopping. And I need to do washing up and ironing. Ah, times like this I miss my mother.
- How many social networks have you joined?
- Do you have a lot of online friends?
- How much time do you spend on the laptop?
