Taking this moment to proclaim, “I LOVE WATERSTONES (and it’s staff)!!”
I’ve finished all of my Christmas shopping which I’m quite glad to be done with. I love Christmas and all – just not the spending part. Ooooh, I sound like an old lady. Okay, that’s a lie – I love the spending part just a smidgen. Just going around the shops looking for stuff and then you see lots of stuff for yourself and you know you HAVE to refrain otherwise you’ll end up buying for just yourself and no-one will be getting any Christmas presents. Ha!
I bought my sister this Club Penguin toy from Disney Store today – just a sort of last minute present and I know she’s been wanting one for ages and I saw they were on sale (from £10 to £5, goodness!) and I thought, “Why not?” I just got a card for my Dad this Christmas. I have reasons for not getting him a present, I am not being callous 🙂 Last Christmas I bought him a pair of Kickers which he’s only worn once – that I know of anyway – and for his birthday I bought him a 50 years of MoTown CD; which he hasn’t listened to yet – the bloody cheek of it. So, no I don’t think he’ll be getting a present this year – which I know sounds really mean but hello! He probably won’t use it if I buy it for him anyway, so y’know.
Mixed emotions occurred today; it was quite frustrating. On one hand, I had no lessons and so this why I was able to finish my shopping but on the other hand I woke up early to get into school at 8.35AM to find out my English teacher isn’t even in and my Media Studies teacher was still off sick. Some warning could have been nice, thanks. ARGH! Also moreso frustrated because I woke up at 2AM and couldn’t get back to sleep after that so I rolled into school yawning all over the place and because I don’t eat in the mornings, I just drink coffee, I bloody hungry by the time I arrived. I soon remedied that by buying McDonalds.
Ah, yes. You are probably wondering about my proclamation of my love for Waterstones. 3 for 2, is all I have to say. I spent 45 minutes seated in the SciFi section. I bought Doctor Who: The Taking of Chelsea 426, Torchwood: Consequences and Graceling after much deliberation. I love the Waterstones in Bromley because there is two levels. And also Doctor Who has it’s own shelf. I bought only one because I had most of the books already. There was also this book called Pride and Prejudice and Zombies by Seth Grahame-Smith.
Pride and Prejudice and Zombies — “It is a truth universally acknowledged that a zombie in possession of brains must be in want of more brains.” So begins Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, an expanded edition of the beloved Jane Austen novel featuring all-new scenes of bone-crunching zombie mayhem. As our story opens, a mysterious plague has fallen upon the quiet English village of Meryton—and the dead are returning to life! Feisty heroine Elizabeth Bennet is determined to wipe out the zombie menace, but she’s soon distracted by the arrival of the haughty and arrogant Mr. Darcy. What ensues is a delightful comedy of manners with plenty of civilized sparring between the two young lovers—and even more violent sparring on the blood-soaked battlefield as Elizabeth wages war against hordes of flesh-eating undead. Can she vanquish the spawn of Satan? And overcome the social prejudices of the class-conscious landed gentry? Complete with romance, heartbreak, swordfights, cannibalism, and thousands of rotting corpses, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies transforms a masterpiece of world literature into something you’d actually want to read.
Zombies? And Pride and Prejudice? I have promised myself that I would get this the next time I pop into Waterstones. It sounds really interesting, not typical haunt but the cover this ultimately intrigue me (Google it).
More happy news (Hmm, does talking about SciFi books count as happy news? Well, it does for my anyhow), I am getting a MacBook for Christmas! My Lolo was going to get it for me for when I got to university but me being me obviously couldn’t wait that long, so I decided to ask for it for Christmas and he said yes! I’m hopefully getting it Wednesday; I say hopefully because knowing me wiht my big mouth I might have to wait longer. Ha. I’m excited though, finally getting a new laptop – I’ve needed an upgrade since forever and sure this one has served its purpose well over the years but there comes a time when every girl has to part with her laptop and take on a fresh, new one. Excited? I most certainly am!
And on that note, I must be off – Ugly Betty is on in 15 and I need to get cosy on the sofa with my duvet. 🙂
THE DOCTOR IS SANTA CLAUSE! 😀 ♥
