Christmas, Waterstones and SciFi

[edit] Two new affies: Sakura and Jami. ๐Ÿ™‚ And I’ve been nominated for Best Website & Best Website Name at the Demented Year Awards! Voting hasn’t started yet but you can nominate someone else or participate yourself: click here [/edit]

Taking this moment to proclaim, “I LOVE WATERSTONES (and it’s staff)!!”

I’ve finished all of my Christmas shopping which I’m quite glad to be done with. I love Christmas and allย – just not the spending part. Ooooh, I sound like an old lady. Okay, that’s a lie – I love the spending part just a smidgen. Just going around the shops looking for stuff and then you see lots of stuff for yourself and you know you HAVE to refrain otherwise you’ll end up buying for just yourself and no-one will be getting any Christmas presents. Ha!

I bought my sister this Club Penguin toy from Disney Store today – just a sort of last minute present and I know she’s been wanting one for ages and I saw they were on sale (from ยฃ10 to ยฃ5, goodness!) and I thought, “Why not?” I just got a card for my Dad this Christmas. I have reasons for not getting him a present, I am not being callous ๐Ÿ™‚ Last Christmas I bought him a pair of Kickers which he’s only worn once – that I know of anyway – and for his birthday I bought him a 50 years of MoTown CD; which he hasn’t listened to yet – the bloody cheek of it. So, no I don’t think he’ll be getting a present this year – which I know sounds really mean but hello! He probably won’t use it if I buy it for him anyway, so y’know.

Mixed emotions occurred today; it was quite frustrating. On one hand, I had no lessons and so this why I was able to finish my shopping but on the other hand I woke up early to get into school at 8.35AM to find out my English teacher isn’t even in and my Media Studies teacher was still off sick. Some warning could have been nice, thanks. ARGH! Also moreso frustrated because I woke up at 2AM and couldn’t get back to sleep after that so I rolled into school yawning all over the place and because I don’t eat in the mornings, I just drink coffee, I bloody hungry by the time I arrived. I soon remedied that by buying McDonalds.

Ah, yes. You are probably wondering about my proclamation of my love for Waterstones. 3 for 2, is all I have to say. I spent 45 minutes seated in the SciFi section. I bought Doctor Who: The Taking of Chelsea 426, Torchwood: Consequences and Graceling after much deliberation. I love the Waterstones in Bromley because there is two levels. And also Doctor Who has it’s own shelf. I bought only one because I had most of the books already. There was also this book called Pride and Prejudice and Zombies by Seth Grahame-Smith.

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies — “It is a truth universally acknowledged that a zombie in possession of brains must be in want of more brains.” So begins Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, an expanded edition of the beloved Jane Austen novel featuring all-new scenes of bone-crunching zombie mayhem. As our story opens, a mysterious plague has fallen upon the quiet English village of Merytonโ€”and the dead are returning to life! Feisty heroine Elizabeth Bennet is determined to wipe out the zombie menace, but she’s soon distracted by the arrival of the haughty and arrogant Mr. Darcy. What ensues is a delightful comedy of manners with plenty of civilized sparring between the two young loversโ€”and even more violent sparring on the blood-soaked battlefield as Elizabeth wages war against hordes of flesh-eating undead. Can she vanquish the spawn of Satan? And overcome the social prejudices of the class-conscious landed gentry? Complete with romance, heartbreak, swordfights, cannibalism, and thousands of rotting corpses, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies transforms a masterpiece of world literature into something you’d actually want to read.

Zombies? And Pride and Prejudice? I have promised myself that I would get this the next time I pop into Waterstones. It sounds really interesting, not typical haunt but the cover this ultimately intrigue me (Google it).

More happy news (Hmm, does talking about SciFi books count as happy news? Well, it does for my anyhow), I am getting a MacBook for Christmas! My Lolo was going to get it for me for when I got to university but me being me obviously couldn’t wait that long, so I decided to ask for it for Christmas and he said yes! I’m hopefully getting it Wednesday; I say hopefully because knowing me wiht my big mouth I might have to wait longer. Ha. I’m excited though, finally getting a new laptop – I’ve needed an upgrade since forever and sure this one has served its purpose well over the years but there comes a time when every girl has to part with her laptop and take on a fresh, new one. Excited? I most certainly am!

And on that note, I must be off – Ugly Betty is on in 15 and I need to get cosy on the sofa with my duvet. ๐Ÿ™‚

The doctor will always be santa clause =D lol.
I love your layout ‘Have you hugged your timelord today?’. LOL. I’ve seen the layout before, but I forgot to read the text until now < I'm so stupid.
Can't wait for DT's last episode…omg I am so going to cry. Crying on christmas day…just for him. I hope the DW team do a really good job. I didn't like the Waters of Mars all that much because of the change of character at the end…but I hope it all fixes and they show the doctor we all know and love next episode. It's going to be amazing.

I love Waterstones too. I think if I ever decided to work in a shop when I'm older, i would try to get a job working there. There are shelves and shelves of books. Ussually I end up over spending whenever I go. It would be a change to be paid to serve there.

Zombies…sounds creepy. Walking (or stumbling) dead. Hmm…they've always half freaked me out. I was scared of those creatures in DW Waters of Mars. It's the way they look. But sounds good in terms of invading a classic book like Pride and Prejudice. "Mr Darcy, I love you…" *enter zombie* LOL.

A MACBOOK! WOW! I know the feeling. I was sooo excited about my iMac and I rushed in the purchasing it. It was meant to be a reward for my exam results, but I got it before my exams, so I was taking a big risk. In the end, I did well and manage to pay off the rest of the money. Don't Mac's just look gorgeous? Well you have fun with it, they are awesome!

Finally, my expidition is to Norway. isn't that the land of the christmas trees or something? I'm rubbish at xmas knowledge. We had a quiz in Drama and all my friends knew the answers straight away, whereas I was like 'Say what?'. But anyhow I am excited about Christmas…especially about eating all the food on christmas day!!!!!

Don't forget to see St Trinians 2!!!

I don’t know whether you got my last comment as I got no notification. If you didn’t I’ll be very cheesed >_< because it was so long.

I wanted to add something, I have just started Demented Year Awards through a mad moment to rush into something unplanned and last minute. I'd really really like it if you and your site were to compete in the Best Website and Best Website Name category. So basically, I'm nominating you. If you accept it'd make me really happy and I think you stand a good chance of winning if the contest goes ahead. So, what do you say? Do you want to be in the comp?
Just blog comment me, no need to apply through the form because I know you =D

    Hi. Want to exchange links?

  4. December 16, 2009 / 10:08 am

Oh god, any more comments and I’ll spam up your whole comments part. Sorry =(( .

Anyways, I entered you in the contest. I didn’t know whether you wanted to go for best content quality as well, so I put you in anyway. You can always withdraw from that one if you choose.

LOL I read all of the facts from the doctor.”If you turn onto ITV tonight, thereโ€™s a chance the universe will implodeโ€ฆ” Haha. I love DW =D .

I’ve been having loads of trouble with spam. I keep getting spam posted everywhere despite having used that number add number thing. I don’t think it works. I should install something else, but I haven’t had the time or patience lately.

i think my christmas would be a disaster and lonely. Gifts still surprises me. I only hate the situation iam in right now, good thing you can go shopping and enjoy your xmas, i’ll be free from this burden next year! PARTYY HARD!

  7. December 18, 2009 / 3:17 am

I haven’t done any christmas shopping. I’m far too poor to get anything for anyone. ๐Ÿ˜› I just give people hugs and tell them I love them. HAHAHAHA. I was thinking of making cards for everyone but I’m … lazy. ๐Ÿ˜› Perhaps next year. Yes, next year. ๐Ÿ˜€ Maybe. Hopefully. I feel like a lame friend. Not my fault I’m not filthy rich. Besides, material objects aren’t EVERYTHING.

Waterstones.. I thought that was a thng. Apparently its’ a store like Barnes and Noble? ^^ That’s what we have here in the states are at least in my states. I sometimes forget if you go to the east coast, you might not find the same things you’d find as in Washington. ๐Ÿ˜›

Doctor Who… ๐Ÿ˜€ I should send you some Doctor Who stuff or something. Hahaha, overseas package. ๐Ÿ˜€

That makes sense. People say no regrets but don’t mean it. Some people actually live by it… I think. Or try. It’s hard. ๐Ÿ˜›

Sorry I wrote about a heavy subject. It was a heavy day. Hahahaha, if a day can even be heavy.

Arranged marriage. ^^ Sounds interesting. I once tried a roleplay of that. It failed because I got lame responses. ๐Ÿ˜› And the person kept writing in weird tenses, so I gave up on them ๐Ÿ˜›

My site was down for two days I think. ๐Ÿ˜› I never really had time to update it or anything but still..
